Red Carpet Events in Los Angeles

For those of you who have been on the red carpet and those who wish to be someday, there is one universal rule. You have to look your absolute best. Aside from what you are wearing, everyone is going to see your face. Photographers and Paparazzi will be all over the place. Numerous fans in the stands will be flashing away with their cameras. The countless pictures that will turn up on the internet, newspapers, and entertainment shows will be of all of the various head shots taken of you while standing or walking on the carpet.

Why would you want to take the chance of looking anything less than stunning? When it is time for one of your red carpet events, hire a professional makeup artist. A makeup artist will know exactly what to do to make you look your best. They know how to highlight or downplay your facial features and the best makeup colors to use with your skin tone. The more event details you provide, the better the makeup artist will be able to assist you. Will it be a day event, a night event, maybe a late day early evening event?

Events held on Red Carpets tend to be high class affairs, as well as unofficial photo shoots. So be prepared and arrange for the perfect outfit, hair style, and makeup artist.

Tips for Oily Skin

Tips for Oily Skin

There is nothing worse than having that greasy shiny look to your face. Excess oil makes your skin look dirty and can cause your makeup to run or wear off. And there is little you can do about it personally, as it is in your body chemistry.

A few things to consider when managing your oily skin:

  • Avoid makeup containing oils. There is no need to add more oil to your face. Moisturizers and lotions contain oils for the most part. Look for products that are oil-free.
  • Choose makeup items that are designed for oily skin.
  • Wash your face in the morning when you get up and at night before bed. Do not scrub too hard or over wash your face, as it may cause your skin to create even more oil to replace the oil you just washed off.
  • Be sure to completely wash your makeup off each day, ideally before you wash your face for the night.
  • Oily skin produces acne, so an acne cream may be applied a couple times a day to remedy the condition. Acne creams come in varying levels of strength, so the amount you use and the number of times a day you can apply it will vary.
  • Avoid touching your face in the day, as your fingers will transmit the oil that is on them.
  • Throughout the day, you may need to blot your face with blotting powder or oil absorbing papers.

Research for the Bride to do before the Wedding.

Research for the Bride to do before the Wedding.

Before the big wedding day, there is a great deal of planning to do. In this case, we are referring to the appearance of the bride. The sooner all of the details of the bride’s gown and makeup are settled, the more relaxed the bride can relax, a little.

Here are some tips on what to get an early start on in the planning phase:

  1. Before going to a makeup artist, do some research. Look through bridal magazines and wedding websites. Get some pictures and ideas on how you would like yourself to look on your wedding day. The more information you come to the makeup artist with, the better they can work with you to achieve a desired look.
  2. Also a rule for life, get plenty of sleep. The more rested you are, the more energy you will have and the better you will look.
  3. Do your best to keep your stress levels down. This will be a hectic planning time in addition to work and whatever other responsibilities you have. So it is wise to start planning as soon as possible, the sooner you get items out of the way, the less stressful your life will be.
  4. The elements are harsh on your skin, so do what you can to stay out of the sun and avoid wind, rain, and extreme temperatures.
  5. Seek a beautician early on to start you on treatments for your skin, hair, and nails. Results are not always instantaneous; your body must be conditioned to them. Regular facial and manicure treatments are advised.
  6. If you plan on dieting, see the rule above. Results are not instant, so begin early on to condition your body.

Tips for Choosing and Applying Bronzer

Monday, 22 February 2010 15:15 by SimplyBeautiful

Using bronzer is an excellent alternative to tanning and spray-on tanning. It all depends on what your preferences and ultimate goals. Traditional tanning subjects your skin to harmful UV rays, which can lead eventual skin cancer. You may also consider the spray-on tan or lotion options. These are good if you need to cover your whole body. But if you just want to add a little color to your face, or the sun-kissed look, a little facial bronzer is just the thing you need.

To start, you will need to choose a bronzer appropriate to you skin tone. Meaning, ideally you only want to go a few shades darker than your actual skin color. Going in a far extreme will make you skin look fake and unnatural. If you have light or fair skin, choose a bronzer with a honey color. For medium tones, go with a rose-bronze or gold colored bronzer. For dark skin tones, go with an amber or tawny colored bronzer.

To apply the bronzer, choose a wide and fluffy powder brush, preferably with a round tip. You want the brush to give an even blend, so if you choose a brush that is too stiff or too small, you may get some blotchy results. Invest in a quality brush, because you do get what you pay for.

To keep the bronzer from streaking, you need to apply a coat of base powder. This will help keep the sweat and oil from you skin from causing the bronzer to streak. When applying the bronzer, swirl the brush in the compact to evenly spread the bronzer. If you apply too much, just wipe off the extra on a tissue or towel. Lightly apply the bronzer to your forehead, nose, and cheeks. Ideally all of the areas of your face the sun would naturally hit. Slowly add layers and continue to check the bronzer’s appearance in actual sun light or daylight. If there is too much or it appears streaky, continue to blend.

Eyebrow Grooming Tips

Friday, 6 November 2009 22:38 by SimplyBeautiful

Grooming your eyebrows is like most things in life. You have to learn what works for you. To style your eyebrows you basically have three methods, tweezing, waxing, and threading.

The first thing you want to do is determine how to shape your eyebrows. To determine the starting point for each eyebrow, take a pencil and place it vertically against your nostril. The point at which the pencil touches your brow line should be your starting location. To determine where to end your eyebrow, place the pencil from your nostril to the corner of your eye. The position where the pencil meets the brow line is your end point. The point above the iris of your eye is where you would shape the curve to your eyebrows.

Once you have your points you can draw out the shape you want to make your eyebrows. It is better to have a general idea of the shape, rather than just starting to pluck hairs. To create the effect you will be plucking and trimming hairs from above and below your eyebrow as needed.

Waxing involves the application of heated wax to the portions of hair you want to remove. In an effort to remove multiple hairs at once, as opposed to tweezing hairs one by one. For this same reason waxing must be done carefully, apply it sparingly to the chosen areas as you do not want to remove too much hair. The best tip is to do a little bit at a time to check your gradual results. And you’re dealing with a boiling hot substance, so people suffer burns from this method.

Threading is an ancient hair removal practice. In this method one uses a length of cotton thread. The person doing the treatment holds one end of the thread in their mouth and the other end in their hand. They make the thread into a loop and hold and end in each hand.

With the twists in the thread made by the looping, the user grabs hair by tightening the twisted area, which in turn pulls out the hair at the root. This is becoming the preferred method over waxing, because it doesn’t have all of the drawbacks.

The Benefits of Airbrushed Makeup.

Friday, 6 November 2009 20:40 by SimplyBeautiful

On virtually any magazine featuring a cover girl, chances are she was airbrushed for the photo. With a trained airbrush artist, you can hide your cosmetic flaws. Any wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, and others can be covered up with airbrush makeup. And with the rise of High Definition video and pictures, appearances have never been under more scrutiny.

With an airbrush foundation colors can be perfectly blended to give you a flawless complexion. Airbrush makeup doesn’t fade, run, smear, or streak. It is water proof and sweat proof. It generally lasts ten to twelve hours, or until you take it off.

The airbrush method works by covering your skin with tiny dots. But the dots do not cover up your natural skin color; it still is visible through the dots and is complemented by them. Your skin is able to breathe and you get a more natural look to your skin. The makeup is liquid based, so you won’t get that cakey look like you do with powdered makeup.

Yes it cost more than traditional makeup, but the results can be worth it. When you need airbrushing you can hire someone to do it for you, or you can buy all of the tools and makeup to do it yourself. Airbrushing yourself can be a hard feat to accomplish successfully, because you can’t always see what you are doing.
